Charter School Underwriting Guidelines

 

The Tuolumne JPA, recognizes that schools or districts may apply for Charter School Status pursuant to Ed. Code 47600 et. Seq., and will consider an applicant Charter School  under the following guidelines:

 

1.  Charter Schools that are sponsored by a JPA member and operated on one of the member’s school sites are eligible for coverage under the membership of the school district.

 

2.  Charter schools that are sponsored by a JPA member and operated off-site will be reviewed on an individual basis for coverage and membership in the Tuolumne JPA.  Prior to receiving consideration by the Tuolumne JPA, the Charter School will be required to qualify for eligibility for the JPA’s excess coverage with ASCIP.

 

3.  Charter Schools that have been converted from a public school district will be

required to apply for acceptance into the Tuolumne JPA as a new JPA member.  Prior

to receiving consideration by the Tuolumne JPA, the Charter School will be required to qualify for eligibility for the JPA’s excess coverage with ASCIP.

 

4.   Charter Schools who wish to apply to the Tuolumne JPA shall apply for consideration by submitting a copy of the approved petition to the Risk Management/Loss Control Committee.  The Risk Management/Loss Control Committee will review the petition and develop a recommendation for the JPA board.
